The 2018
Lakeside Playoff Qualifiers have been confirmed, in a field that included the likes of Tony O'Shea, Ted Hankey and foreign players such as Dylan Duo, Dyson Parody and Dawson Murschell, none of them came through the qualifiers despite getting close.
Tony O'Shea was defeated by eventual finalist Alan Soutar in the last 64 while Ted Hankey was defeated by the experienced Paul Hogan to end a 16 year run in the case of O'Shea in terms of him qualifying for the tournament at Frimley Green.
Chris Gilliland was the first qualifier defeating Pawel Wolynka on Board 13. The Northern Irishman who got to the Last 32 last year went all of the way this year to become the first man to Lakeside.
Michi Unterbuchner was the second man through to Lakeside, a multiple quarter and semi finalist in WDF events, he has qualified for Lakeside on the first time he has attempted to do so.
Chris Harris from Wales and Derk Telnekes from The Netherlands were the final two to qualify through, Harris got to the last 144 a few days back in the World Masters and improved massively from his last 512 last year to make Lakeside. Derk on the otherhand has won a
BDO event this year, the Belgian Open and has reached two Semi-Finals (England and German Open) so could be a threat!
