Andy Boulton enjoyed a historic run at the European Darts Matchplay.

The Englishman kicked off with 6-4 wins over Cristo Reyes and Steve Beaton in Hamburg before thrashing Jelle Klaasen 6-1. Boulton then edged out Gerwyn Price 6-5 before losing in the semi-final to William O'Connor. It was a successful weekend at the European Darts Matchplay for 'X-Factor', who cut himself a slice of European Tour history.
Boulton became the first ever Associate Member to reach the semi-finals of a European Tour event. The 45-year-old lost his Tour Card at the end of last year. The European Tour, which started in 2012, had never seen a non-Tour Card holder reach the last four.
This fact was confirmed by statistician Burton DeWitt.
