Joe Cullen lost out to Gary Anderson last night (Thursday) in a thriller at the Winter Gardens regarded as a game that had it all including a nine darter from Anderson, a 170 checkout and a tense conclusion.

Cullen was unfortunately on the receiving end of the defeat and he spoke afterwards admitting he is gutted and that the better player lost. He added that while he is gutted, he is sure he will find positives from it in the coming days. “I’m gutted. I think the better player lost but Gary's in the next round and I'm not. Gary's a class player and good luck to him in the next round.” said the Bradford ace. "I was confident of hitting the double 18 and went inside, but a fly flew across right as I was throwing for double nine. I'm not saying I would have hit it, it's irrelevant now. "I'll reflect on this and I'm sure I'll find some positives." for more information about the World Matchplay. The prize fund breakdown for this tournament can be found .
