Luke Humphries is through to the second round at the PDC World Darts Championship after smashing Adam Hunt in a crushing straight sets victory.

Humphries said in an with DartsNews.com before the tournament that he believes he is a better player than his first appearance twelve months ago and he definitely showed this. He restricted Hunt to only one leg hitting nine without reply after losing the first leg. In terms of statistics it was a 97 average with five 180’s thrown as he sent a message to his next opponent, Stephen Bunting. The match begun with Humphries looking quite tentative and losing his throw as a result but he broke straight back. He started to show his scoring power in the following leg pinning his first 180 followed by hitting double eight to go ahead. ‘Cool Hand’ showed his coolness on the doubles as well hitting a classy 121 checkout on double 14 to win the set. Following that early confidence boost, Humphries went into cruise control and looked brilliant in clean sweeping set two. He did the same in the final set with some relentless play which made it all look too easy for the Newbury ace. This meant that overall it was a bit of a nightmare debut for the Hunter and a dream return to the Alexandra Palace for Cool Hand. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
