Keith Deller is among the many darts fans excited to beckon in the 2018 PDC World Matchplay.
1983 world champion Deller, who made the
World Matchplay semi-finals in 1998, believes that no player is safe from elimination.
"I'm looking forward to the Matchplay, I think it's going to be a brilliant one," Deller told
Live Darts.
"There's a lot of
first round games there, where some seeds may not have played as well as they should.
"There could be upsets, but you never know. They're there for a reason."
Jackpot
Deller, who is Adrian Lewis' manager, made special mention of Jackpot's chances in Blackpool. "He's playing really well," said the former world champion. "He had an operation last year - it's not just the operation, the six or seven months before that he wasn't practicing enough because he was in pain. "For six months he wasn't practicing how all the top players were. Now he is, and obviously you can see the way he's getting better." Deller was in no doubt as to what the standout ties could potentially be in the second round. "Everyone's going to look at Michael van Gerwen vs Adrian, and Gary Anderson against Barney (Raymond van Barneveld)," he said.
