Paul Lim, the 63 year old 'Singapore Slinger' rolled back the years to knock out Mark Webster in one of the games of the tournament last night. He ended up winning 3-2 and had the crowd behind him for the whole game averaging the most he ever has on the Alexandra Palace stage.
He will face Gary Anderson in Round 2 and spoke about the crowd and how they played a massive part in him getting over the line and to set up that clash as 'The Flying Scotsman' will aim to avenge his loss to Lim as part of the Singapore team at the World Cup only a few months prior to this.
"It's been an unbelievable night," said Lim. "I could feel that the crowd were for me and it's so great to feel that.
"I know the
PDC World Championship is the cream of all darts tournaments and to be part of it really is an honour. To play well with the crowd like that is a different story, I think the way the crowd were really played a part in me winning.
"I had to dig deep. It's tough though, I'm running out of stamina!"
