Payne defeats Wright to claim second PDC ranking title at Players Championship 12

Josh Payne has claimed his second PDC title by defeating Peter Wright in the final at Players Championship 12. It went to a last leg decider but the Gravesend native held his nerve to win.
It has been 2 years since his last title where he defeated James Wade in the final in Barnsley but he has shown some brilliant form at times this year.
Payne will hope to use this win as a stepping stone in qualifying for major tournaments and fulfilling his undoubted potential.
For Wright its agony again with him still waiting for his first title of the year but he is showing some brilliant form after a few months not playing to his best.

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
