Ted Hankey, the two-time BDO world champion, has been declared bankrupt.

Therevealed that the Count, 50, had been issued a bankruptcy order by the HMRC in June. One of the most recognisable figures in BDO darts, Ted Hankey is as well known for his stage antics as his performances on the oche. Hankey won the Lakeside title in 2000 and 2009. He also finished runner-up to John Walton in the 2001 World Championship final. The Stoke-on-Trent born thrower is famous for his dramatic walk-on and infamous for his "oche rage". He also suffered a minor stroke on stage against Michael van Gerwen at the 2012 Grand Slam of Darts. The bankruptcy news comes six months after missing out on reaching the Lakeside finals by the narrowest possible margin. More poignantly, Hankey lost his father, Ted Snr, just days before the order was revealed. “Ultimately, I only have myself to blame," he said about his oche woes in a recent interview. "It feels like I have had a devil looking up on me with some of the luck I’ve had, but that’s life."
