World Number 3 and UK Open Champion, Peter Wright came close again to another title being beaten by retiring legend Phil 'The Power' Taylor with an 11-8 victory to continue his dominance in Australia. Wright hit seven 180's to assert his scoring power in the match- but he averaged 98.88 and hit 40.74% of his doubles which was ultimately the difference as Snakebite missed 19 darts at doubles and Wright reflected on this after the match in an interview with PDC.TV.
'I've got to learn from these defeats, I will come back stronger and next week in Perth that title is for me' said Wright in an interview after the Melbourne final.
He followed this up by saying : 'I can't wait tilll he retires! I missed a lot of doubles and Phil punished me. I've got to learn from the beatings he keeps giving me'
