Raymond van Barneveld will make a start to his very last season as a PDC player in February. The 51-year-old Dutchman announced his retirement in November 2018 and retires after the 2020 World Championship.

His glorious career will come to an end in eleven months. Van Barneveld has not the psychical and mental strength anymore to keep pace with the best players in the world. ''The upcoming retirement is very difficult for me'', Van Barneveld told . ''I'm very emotional about it for months. Of course it has also effect on my game. I actually want to continue my career until my 55th, but I can't do it anymore. Then I have to be critical to myself and say; 'it has been enough'.'' ''I want to decide my own farewell. Baxter, Burnett, Part; they all dropped out of the ranking. I don't want to do that as a five-time world champion. With one year left, I know have to work a lot. I want to qualify for the World Championship and hopefully I win it as well'', Van Barneveld said.
