Van Gerwen: 'The BDO is extinct, it's unfair they are having places in our tournaments'

Every year, BDO players migrate to the more lucrative PDC. Some claim that the talent drain has affected both the quality of BDO competition and the Championship's status. "The BDO is extinct", Van Gerwen claimed in an interview with Dutch newspaper . The PDC world number one spoke out against BDO players having the opportunity to compete on the PDC circuit. "I find it unfair that the BDO can sometimes take a number of permanent places at our tournaments. That doesn't benefit our sport," he said.
