A record number of 180 scores were thrown Wednesday at the fifteenth Players Championship tournament of the season. The highest possible score was thrown a whopping 593 times, statistics platform TheRedBit180 reported via X.
That was a sharp improvement on the old record, set in 2022. At Players Championship 25 in that year, 577 180-scores were thrown. So an improvement of no less than sixteen 180-scores.
Most 180-scores were accounted for by tournament winner Luke Littler. The 17-year-old Englishman threw a 180 score 34 times. Furthermore, Gary Anderson (26), Damon Heta (26), Wessel Nijman (22), Chris Dobey (20) and Mike de Decker (20) were on a roll in terms of 180-scores.
A day later, the old record was surpassed again. At Players Championship 16, 585 180s were thrown. That was eight more than the old record, but also eight less than the new record.
That more 180s are thrown on the Pro Tour these days than in the past is also evidenced by the fact that three of the six Players Championship tournaments in which the most 180s were thrown were in 2024.
