2019 World Matchplay on course to break attendance record

This year's World Matchplay which is set to begin tonight with a bumper session of action including defending champion Gary Anderson and the tournament is on course to break the attendance record.

The current record is over 18,000;this is when Phil Taylor had his final year and claimed a magical 16th title at the Winter Gardens.

This year is set to surpass that though with the growth of the showpiece event in Blackpool evident. Only a number of tickets are still available through various ticket sellers including SeeTickets and the box office.

Monday is one of the only sessions with seats remaining with the standing ones even limited for the weekend sessions.
