Alan Soutar and Daryl Gurney to battle it out for Players Championship 11 glory

In a slight surprise to what would have been expected at the start of the day, Alan Soutar and Daryl Gurney will battle it out in the final of Players Championship 11 in Hildesheim.

Having already defeated the likes of Steve Beaton, Martin Lukeman, Danny Noppert, Ritchie Edhouse and Niels Zonneveld earlier in the day, Soutar made short work of Dirk van Duijvenbode in the semi-finals, racing into a dominant whitewash win to power into the Pro Tour final 7-0.

Gurney, like Soutar started off strongly, moving 4-0 up early on. Raymond van Barneveld fought back into the tie however, and for a moment looked to have completely switched the momentum around. In the end though, it was the Northern Irishman who prevailed.
