All players competing in the 2020 World Matchplay have had their COVID-19 tests come back negative, meaning that no changes have had to occur to the line-up or tournament schedule.
98 tests were conducted in all including players, staff, officials and guests; with a negative test for every one which was the same for the PDC Summer Series last week.
Stephen Bunting and Ryan Searle who were on stand-by in case of any withdrawals or positive tests will not be required to take the place of any player.
As a result, the action will continue tonight; with the first round coming towards it's conclusion with five more matches. Nathan Aspinall against Dimitri van den Bergh will fully complete it on Tuesday night.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
