Gary Anderson previously won the
US Darts Masters albeit in a different venue as it heads to Madison Square Garden in New York.
Anderson still holds Las Vegas above New York but has been glad to visit the Big Apple for the first time.
"Very first time in New York so I've spent a couple of days walking about, a few boat trips and that seeing a few of the sights, it's been good," said Anderson to Online Darts.
"Unfortunately Vegas wins hands down. No matter what but we've been to Vegas a few time so it's nice to try new cities, first time in New York has been an eye opener."
Held at Madison Square Garden, it is a place that breathes history and Anderson is aware of that but also discussed his form coming into this year's tournament.
"When you mention the place, now you think of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, all the great boxers, all the great fights that have taken place here. Not worried about the darts but the boxing, Tommy (Gilmour, Anderson's manager) has had a lot of boxers across here and he says this is where a boxing match should be held."
"Unfortunately back in Vegas when I won it, I was actually playing alright. My darts are absolutely shocking just now but I'm just going to persevere, sometimes there is a sign of it, I just need to double my work schedule but as we know, it's very hard for me now and can't do two things at once."
Honest on future
For 'The Flying Scotsman', it is simply not putting the work in and he believes that he will get caught out for that eventually.
"I know it's not happening as I'm not putting the work in. It's as simple as that, I was constantly playing darts. I was either doing exhibitions or a tournament, you think you should be able to still do it but unfortunately it doesn't work that way."
"I think I'm going to get caught out very shortly. But the way I look at it, over the last five years I haven't done a European Tour but I've still managed to stay in the top 10."
