After a poor showing on the opening night,
Nathan Aspinall returned to action and to the winners' circle seeing off Fallon Sherrock 5-1 and to set up a pivotal tie with Peter Wright at the
Grand Slam of Darts.
"I've no idea what happened last night. I scored really well last night, I just absolutely capitulated at the end of legs to the extent that I've never done. But I had to come back tonight with a big result and playing Fallon (Sherrock) is never easy. I had to go up there and do a job but I'm happy that I got a win and not only that a big win. 5-1 plus four legs, it could come down to legs in this group.
"There's always pressure when you're playing Fallon, what she's done for the women's game. It's always tough up there but I just wanted to win the first leg and get myself settled. It was just a big win and one I needed to get."
Going into that tie with Wright, it is all about relaxation for 'The Asp' and knowing he has a good record against 'Snakebite'.
"I'm in a hotel with a spa so I'll probably go in the sauna and jacuzzi," he laughed. "I won't play darts tomorrow, I'm not the biggest practicer during tournaments. I'll probably have the day off and try and do something fun."
"I've got a good record against Peter (Wright), Peter will know that. I can't keep performing at this level on TV, I know there's a big game in me and hopefully that comes on Tuesday night."
