After losing to Ryan Searle on the opening day of the Grand Slam of Darts, Josh Rock bounced back by seeing off Scott Williams narrowly to keep his hopes alive of qualifying for the Last 16 and it was a game he was relieved to see improvement in.
"Last night was absolutely terrible. I was really disappointed because no disrespect but the crowd was all on Ryan's back and maybe I thought about it too much as it was disrespecting another player. Today I played bad but I said I was going to improve and I did," said Rock to Online Darts.
"Me and Scott are very good friends, we're very close. We sit with each other when it comes to the ProTours and I said it's going to be a close game regardless due to being close friends but I'm happy with the win."
Going into the tournament, Rock has had the darting world installing him as one of the favourites and while confident, he admits it's about doing it now.
"Well I know I can win it but it's easier said than done. You have to be confident, if you're not confident there's no point playing darts whatsoever so I go into every game confident. I know I can compete with the best."
Recent issues have surfaced with his management and after speaking about them at the European Championship, he also went into more detail as well as how his form has upturned since putting in the request to leave.
"Just trying to get out of my management as soon as I can as I'm not happy. As soon as I put the request in to leave him, my darts improved. I got to my first ProTour final and then won my first ProTour. So I can't complain but it will be progressed very shortly. It's with the DRA. I wanted out of it and I'm getting out of it in the end."
