Nathan Aspinall won the
UK Open in 2019, still the only major win of his career. The 31-year-old looks back on that title.
Aspinall defeated Rob Cross 11-5 in the final. "It's easy to say because I've won it but I knew I was going to win, that was my time. It's been a long road. Many sacrifices, many down times in my career. I felt everything went right that day and during that game, I just knew I was going to win and that's what I did," said Aspinall to PDC.
He also sealed the title with a 170 checkout. "We have it so many times during our practice and matches and you're thinking you never know maybe.
As well as having his Grandad there to see it. "I don't like my family coming that much as it puts more pressure on me but my Grandad is not getting any younger and he's so passionate about the game of darts. He wanted to come down and to win my first TV title with a 170 in front of my grandad, as much as I love my mum and dad I think it made it even more special that it was my grandad. He's the one who got me into darts in the first place."
