Steve Beaton edged past Nathan Aspinall 6-4 to begin his German Darts Open campaign as he returned to big stage action a winner after not being seen on the European Tour in some time.
Beaton spoke afterwards and said it's been that long that he was shaking and the nerves were there for the tie.
"Actually it's been that long I was a bit nervous, I'm shaking now putting my darts in. It's nice to be back, I've just got to get back use to it. That wasn't the best of games and Nathan (Aspinall) would say the same but I just pinched it," said Beaton.
Next up is Jose de Sousa and he is under no illusion that a further improvement is needed.
"Hopefully I'll play a lot better in the next few games. If we both play our games, it'll be a very good game."
