Jonny Clayton recovered from a mid-match slump to see off Jim Williams 6-4 and survive a scare in an all-Welsh clash but he hopes it can be the scare he has this weekend en route to the latter stages and even winning the title.
"It was a scrappy game, there were a few 180's which were good but at the end of the day we both had chances to win that game and luckily for me, I took them and I'm here till Sunday.
"Scrappy wins make prizes so hopefully I can up my game and do a bit better.
Next up is Peter Wright and while he wouldn't be drawn on revenge for the Stuttgart defeat, it is a game he is looking forward to.
"It'll always be a good game so hopefully it's going to be my day."
