Stephen Bunting dumped out Nathan Aspinall on the opening night of the World Grand Prix, with 'The Bullet' producing a superb display against the World Matchplay champion.
A player who knows how to win in this format, he is one in form too after recent high averages and the confidence is there for the former Lakeside champion who believes he is playing better than he was winning that title.
But now, it is all about backing it up and for Bunting, he wants to win titles and continue his hot streak of high averages.
"People are seeing the averages posted when I'm playing but I'm even better than that on the practice board. I said to my manager the other day, I had a 111, 109, 106 (averages), the averages keep creeping up. I don't want this to be a one off. I want to keep at it. I'm working at my game to make sure I can be the best Stephen Bunting I can be.
"If I'm the best Stephen Bunting, I can win titles no doubt about it. I think it's the best I've ever played even when I won the Lakeside, I was 90 odd averages. Very steady and hard to beat. With my scoring, it's giving me that extra three darts so I can miss darts at double."
"Obviously this is different as it's double off but there's different pressures for a double off game so I've got to adapt. I'll be on the practice board tomorrow even though it's my day off and I'll be ready for Wednesday."
