Dimitri van den Bergh sealed a narrow 2-1 win over Dave Chisnall to reach the Last 16 of the
World Grand Prix for only the second time in his career.
But while his record in this tournament hasn't always been the best, he said that it often comes down to who he plays.
"I managed to play against the last winner on the tour, a massive win very simple," said Van den Bergh to Online Darts.
"I think I played a lot stronger in the last two World Grand Prix's, I played against Dirk van Duijvenbode who was on fire in that tournament and got all the way to the final. I lost against Ryan Searle, I think I played a 95 average. I've been playing really good games but not winning."
"I think it's all about experience, I've got heaps of tournaments, heaps of years in front of me so just keep your feet grounded, don't rush ahead and don't run ahead. I'm just happy with this win and I feel like I've got to do better."
The eagle eyed could see that a new barrel was being used by 'The Dreammaker' during victory over Chisnall.
"The darts I am using now are similar to ones I was using many years ago. You can go on YouTube and watch Van den Bergh v Rowby-John Rodriguez and the shape of the barrel is exactly the same one that I'm using now. Rowby smashed me 4-0 then but that was 10 years ago, I'm happy with what I'm using. I can get confidence with this, practice and get ready for the World's."
