It was a 10-8 win for
Richie Burnett as he rolled back the year against Peter Wright at the 2023
UK Open but for 'The Prince of Wales', he was back where he belongs on the big stage.
"I enjoyed it up there, I was quite comfortable. Peter's always going to be comfortable, he plays up there every week. It's been a while but I never thought about it and I know that stage is for me," said Burnett to Online Darts.
"Moments towards the end I thought I was losing myself but I looked back from past years and got myself together and through it in the end."
It is always a buzz that never goes away and said not to write him off after this latest win.
"You want it more and more, it's like an addiction. Winning is an addiction, it's now good putting on a performance and losing, it doesn't get you anywhere. So today I'm happy."
"I'm getting to the twilight of my career, I can sit in there and have a laugh. Years ago I'd be like a tiger because I was competitive, I can still play though and I'm not there to lose. At your peril don't underestimate me."
