The first round has begun at
Players Championship 26 with the 32-17 seeds starting their campaigns, with it going backwards on alternate days. While some top names made it through,
Nathan Aspinall and
Raymond van Barneveld lost early for a second straight day.
Aspinall who has been woeful on the ProTour if he has played all season lost out 6-4 to Kevin Doets, while Cameron Menzies accounted for Barney brilliantly 6-3.
There were also defeats for Callan Rydz, Martin Schindler, Brendan Dolan, Gabriel Clemens and Mike de Decker. Victories though for James Wade, Dimitri van den Bergh, Ross Smith and James Wade.
Gian van Veen as he has all year starred with a 104 average in seeing off Brian Raman 6-1. Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith among others will start their campaigns shortly in Barnsley.
