Cameron Menzies is in an awkward spot as despite getting thrashed by Beau Greaves 5-1, he scraped through to the knockout stages of the
Grand Slam of Darts but no matter what he will be back in work.
Menzies works as a plumber in his day job but has been put into an interesting situation this year with the Scot doing well in his career so he has to consider whether to keep working.
At least in the short term, he will continue and has cut down his hours and is given as much time he needs off. Albeit that doesn't stretch to Wednesday so as of time of writing, he won't be preparing for his next match. He will likely be replacing a U-bend instead.
"I don't work Monday and Fridays now but I'm back to work tomorrow no matter what happens," said Menzies to Sky Sports.
"It's a bit different being here than it is being with a toolbag. Tuesday, Wednesday I'm in [work], hopefully depending how results go but yeah I'm in Tuesday and Wednesday.
"I'm meant to be going to a gig Thursday in Glasgow but hopefully I don't make it. I've just signed a new contract with them. I've changed my hours so I'm working three days a week now instead of five days which is a lot better for me.
"I asked the office and they were happy to do it - I just had to go to HR. They've been massively helpful with me. If I start doing more exhibitions and stuff I do think I might have to make a choice."
