Chisnall after impressive win over Clayton: ‘Once I got in my stride, that treble 20 was like a magnet’

Dave Chisnall produced a seriously impressive display to potentially stake his claim for a first major title at the European Championship.
Chisnall averaged 109 in a 10-4 win to set up a Quarter-Final clash with Daryl Gurney.
He said the trebles were like a magnet but that he had been working on his doubles and they are paying off.
“Once I got in my stride that treble 20 was like a magnet, they were all going in,” said Chisnall.
“Jonny started well and he brought the best game out of me, so this result is a bit tough on him.
“We all know my scoring game is there, it’s just doubles that have let me down over the years but I’ve been practicing hard on my doubles and it’s been working for me.”

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
