Jonny Clayton had to come from a set down to defeat Dirk van Duijvenbode and reach the second round at the
World Grand Prix as his title defense began in Leicester.
"It's always great to win a game, that was scrappy, that was basically given to me but Dirk missed so many chances. How I got through that I don't know but I'm still there and I try again on Wednesday," he said post match.
But one part of the match that stood out was the crowd with Van Duijvenbode seemingly getting irritated and he sympathized as it also affected him.
"I looked and I thought I'm in trouble here big time. How I got through I don't know. There wasn't a massive crowd in there but you hear voices big time. They're only trying to support you but you could hear them as if they were stuck in your ear and to be fair to Dirk, I think it put him off a few times when they're shouting for me. But when you're trying to concentrate, it's difficult."
