After last year's successful Contenders format, it has been used again for the 2020 Premier League season but under a different name, the Challengers.

Gary Anderson withdrew last year; this meant the likes of Glen Durrant, John Henderson and Chris Dobey stepped up to the plate to all have a night in local cities to fill the void of the former two time Premier League champion.
This move was unexpected at the time; but it was a success in the end and was one that many expected to be brought back in some guise for the 2020 season.
This is the case with nine players again competing under this new banner. Points won by Challengers will not count towards the league table; however their opponents will still keep any points that are gained from the matches.
Once again, they will receive financial bonuses for winning or drawing their matches; while the original nine players in the Premier League will be confirmed on New Year's Day following the conclusion of the World Championship final, the 'Challengers' will be confirmed in January.
