Cross edges past Kovacs to set up Van Gerwen clash, Krcmar ends Henderson's European Championship hopes

The opening session of action at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy is complete with Rob Cross, Boris Krcmar and Mervyn King making it through.

Cross survived a scare in his opener only just edging past Patrik Kovacs 6-4. He produced an 11 darter to win it coming clutch when needed with an 86 checkout in a good display on the doubles despite only a 90 average.

He hit a 152 and 46% en route and has set up a second round showdown with Michael van Gerwen.

Krcmar ended the European Championship hopes of John Henderson 6-2 with an accomplished display producing a 97 average, two 180's and an 86 checkout on the bullseye to win it.

While it was also emphatic from Mervyn King as he whitewashed Craig Galliano 6-0 with high checkouts of 128 and 100 as another Host Nation Qualifier fell by the wayside with ease with Dyson Parody and Justin Hewitt to come tonight.
