Danny Noppert made it to the quarterfinals on the Euro Tour for the second time this year with a big win over
Nathan Aspinall at the
International Darts Open.
It was not a high-level match. Aspinall still threw an average of 113 in his second round on Saturday, but came up to 90.52 average this time. Aspinall threw an average of 85.90, but was a lot more effective on the doubles.
Aspinall recorded a finishing percentage of only 12.5 percent, compared to 31.6 percent for Noppert. Aspinall missed 10 darts at a double in the first three legs, while Noppert eventually did manage to find the double each time. In the fourth leg, Aspinall again missed a double before Noppert made it 4-0 via double 4. It wasn't until the fifth leg that Aspinall was able to get on the scoreboard via an 11-darter. Noppert then threw a 15-darter for 5-1, before 'The Freeze' took the win with a 17-darter.
Richard Veenstra didn't make it against
Martin Schindler. Flyers' went down 6-1 against Schindler. Veenstra ran into a break deficit in the second leg. He missed a chance at the bullseye from 71 and was not out in six innings. Schindler then threw a 17-darter to make it 2-0. Schindler then had a chance to make it 3-0 from 161, but missed the bullseye by a wide margin. However, a 14-darter made it 3-0 in favor of the German.
Veenstra then started the fourth leg with a 180, before getting on the scoreboard with a 96 finish. Schindler then threw out 76 to bring the score back to a three-leg difference. The Dutchman was then again not out in five innings and was broken by Schindler, who managed to make it 5-1 with a 13-darter. 'The Wall' then decided the match with a 20-darter for a 6-1 win.
