De Sousa leads Price in most nine-dart finishes in PDC over last three years

José de Sousa was just millimetres away from a nine-dart finish last weekend. In his match against Raymond van Barneveld at the Hungarian Darts Trophy, 'The Special One' threw eight perfect darts, but missed the double 12 for a perfect leg.

That De Sousa of all people was close to a nine-darter, is not so surprising. According to statistics platform Darts Orakel, the Portuguese ace has the most nine-dart finishes to his name in the PDC in the last three years. In this period, De Sousa managed to hit six.

Gerwyn Price has five in three years, but four of those were thrown in 2022. Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, James Wade, Nathan Aspinall, Danny Noppert, Madars Razma, Ian White and Mickey Mansell have each produced three nine-dart finishes in the last three years.
