Jose de Sousa finished second in the table during the regular season in the
Premier League Darts in his debut season and will now face Nathan Aspinall in the play-offs.
For De Sousa, it was a night of firsts with the 180 record broken in the process by the Special One which was long standing as well.
"This is a big surprise for me. To make the record for 180's was a surprise too but at the same time, it's not so because I hit so much 60's, it's easy for me. 180's it comes a little bit easy when you make the 60's so easily," said De Sousa post match.
Also there was the matter of a sensational 120 checkout where he used three double 20's and he discussed the thinking of that as he sent the crowd into raptures.
"I do that a couple of times in the ProTour, I try to do that in Gibraltar against Michael because if I do that, everyone will remember me in that moment. For this crowd, I think they deserve it. They love it and me too. It was a great feeling."
It will be Nathan Aspinall once more in the play-offs but he isn't paying any attention to the margin of victory on Night 16 as he believes it is a different game entirely.
"It's a big win because it gives me the second place in the table. Nathan is a big player, he can do big things. He can do the same as me. I think the first to get the break will win the game."
