Michael van Gerwen ended his Premier League regular season action with an 8-6 win over his old rival Peter Wright as he heads into the play-offs in top spot.
Van Gerwen spoke afterwards and believed it was important to keep the confidence up but admitted the work is not done as of yet.
"It's a good night's work. There wasn't a lot at stake but you still want to win because you want to go into tomorrow with a nice confident win and that was important I think," said Van Gerwen post match.
"In a lot of occasions I've also won the tournament but I've still got a long way to go. I feel good but I have to work hard and I'm going to do everything in my power to win this one."
On what has changed during the last few blocks of action since the Super Series, he believes it was that his confidence was always there.
"The will to win was there. I never gave up, I was there 100% and I did the right things in the right moments and from here on, I think I can build and it's going to be a big day."
While also sending a warning shot to his fellow play-off players that he won't give away the title lightly.
"It's my title anyone else has to grab it off me but I'm not going to give it away for free."
