The
Dutch Darts Championship continues on Saturday with the next set of players through to Sunday confirmed. Dave Chisnall started his title defence on Saturday afternoon and defied a Dutchman in getting through.
Chisnall who dominated on the
European Tour last year won the Dutch Darts Championship as part of that run and he saw off Niels Zonneveld on Saturday to start it all off again in Rosmalen. He was in clinical form in doing so sealing a 6-2 win over the home hope.
In doing so, he also hit an average of 100 and landed five 180's en route to sealing the win. After a glut for the seeds also, it is a welcome boost which was also added to by Jonny Clayton.
Clayton who of course would've been looking at the Premier League and wishing he was there now has to let his darts do the talking so he can return to nights like The O2.
That has been few and far between at times and Clayton now will hope to kick on after defeating host nation qualifier Marvin van Velzen. He closed out a 6-4 victory with a 99.2 average to reach the final day hitting five 180's en route in a great display as the Ferret held firm.
But Jermaine Wattimena did what his compatriots couldn't do before him and that was win. Albeit it was a pretty ugly affair for the home hero. He clinched a 6-5 win over Ricardo Pietreczko with an atrocious amount of missed darts at double. It was a 127 checkout in the deciding leg from Wattimena that sealed it with a moment of sheer brilliance. But prior to that, there was 47 missed darts at doubles between them. Not exactly the show he would want for his fans but he is through.
