Durrant has ambitions to become first-ever 'unified champion of the world' as PDC World Championship debut approaches

Glen Durrant if he claims victory at the PDC World Championship in December could become the first player to hold both the PDC and BDO World Championship simultaneously.

For Durrant, he admits that there is a tiny voice which does point towards that mark but it is that tiny.

He also said that he has never been to the Alexandra Palace but that he'd love to be able to go and watch a match before he plays in order to get ready.

"There's a tiny voice in the back of my mind of John McDonald shouting, 'And the unified champion of the world'," said Durrant.

"But it's a tiny voice."

"I've never been in Ally Pally," he added. "I'd love to acclimatise. I'd love to go and watch a game. I don't even know where it is!"

In terms of preparation, it'll be the same as usual for Durrant who admits that he will just be putting in double the practice and will be at his best in a few weeks time despite knowing the challenge that is ahead of him.

"Like the old BDO days, I'll be putting double the practice in than what I'd normally put in," he said. "A couple of sessions in the morning, then a session in the night on the dart board. I really need to work on my doubles. But I'm super excited.

"One thing about me is I'll always come in shape, mentally. I'll be at my best come Ally Pally. I'm good at that. And that's really what I want to do now.

"I'll be replicating the majority of that [BDO preparation]. I just understand the challenge is a lot bigger. It's huge."
