Edgar confident of Suljovic victory after maiden World Championship win: "I think I'll win that definitely"

Matthew Edgar is through to the second round at the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off Maik Kuivenhoven 3-0 only dropping a leg in the process.

The ever entertaining Edgar was confident during his post match interview and believes that he can beat Mensur Suljovic next up.

"Well I thought I was going to get Laura Woods (Sky Sports presenter) interviewing me, I got Dan Dawson. I've lost first round the past two times and I thought Dan Dawson was the booby prize," Edgar joked post match.

"I feel comfortable, I'm not the complete article I'm not yet, I've still got work to do. I'm on a journey, this isn't the destination. but it's nice when you get moments like that. I never felt I was going to miss anything on the finishes. I just need to sharpen up a few bits on the scoring and I could go deep here."

"I think I'll win that definitely, I've not a lost set here at the World Championship, I've lost one leg. He hasn't won a leg yet and I've won nine so I've got to be the favourite surely."

He also discussed what big stage wins mean for him which he admits is especially the case with his Tour Card as well as his Hulk Hogan inspired shirt and his plans with that.

"That's what I'm lacking. I'm always floating around that 64th place which means I'm either defending or close to that Tour Card all the time. The thing that's separating that is a win on the big stage, that's the thing that's separating me from being safe to being where I am at the moment."

"I didn't bring a spare one and I didn't want to do a full on Colin Lloyd. At the moment I don't have the physique to show that and it probably would be Colin Lloyd Phase Two so maybe I'll do a few press ups and you never know you might get it in the second round."
