Evans ahead of PDC World Championship debut: "It's everyone's dream to play the World Championship and be on that iconic stage"

David Evans will make his PDC World Championship debut facing off against Ross Smith in one of the ties of the opening round.

Evans spoke to Live Darts and admitted he had a feeling a tie with 'Smudger' was likely and that he has belief in his game ahead of his Alexandra Palace debut.

"It's everyone's dream to play the World Championship and be on that iconic stage so I'm really looking forward to it," said Evans to Live Darts.

"I think after about four names that had come out I said I bet I get Ross Smith, I just had an inkling."

"I've looked through quite a lot of the draw itself and it does stand out quite heavily. I'm really looking forward to battling it out with him."

"I know I'm capable of playing against the best and beating some of the best. It's just the case of not letting my head go above the clouds."
