Fallon Sherrock has great admiration for her biggest rival Beau Greaves, who many already believe is the best female dart player of all time. Even Sherrock has to admit that she has never seen such a talented female player as Greaves.
Sherrock became famous after she became the first woman to beat a man at the PDC World Darts Championship on the iconic Alexandra Palace stage in 2020. The "Queen of the Palace" quickly became the biggest name in women's darts, but then was joined by the sensational Greaves. During the coronavirus pandemic, Greaves managed to rid herself of dartitis and embark fully on the road to becoming the world's number one women's darts player at just 16 years old.
Greaves has already become a two-time women's world champion, made her debut at the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Darts Championship, and already took the title twice at the Women's World Matchplay. Yet the rivalry between Greaves and Sherrock on the oche has been replaced by mutual admiration behind the scenes.
When asked by Wayne Mardle if she had ever seen a woman as talented as Greaves, Sherrock was resolute. ''Not as consistent, no,'' she said on the latest episode of Club 501. “There are youth players and stuff that you see coming through the system who had talent. But, they never had the consistency and never stuck to it. Whereas Beau’s always been that good, and then now she’s had the consistency doing it on a regular basis, you can see why she’s number one.”
Sherrock notes that other players seem to try extra hard when going up against herself or Greaves. “I think if you see some of the games that we’ve lost on the Women’s Series, the people that we’ve played have really stepped up to the mark. I mean, some of the games that some of the women that are playing against Beau at the moment – because obviously, she’s the main one to beat in everyone’s eyes - the women are just stepping up, hitting 90 averages and stuff,” she concludes. “You can definitely see that now whereas obviously at the start, everyone was like: ‘Oh no, I can't lose to her, I can't lose to her.’ But now everyone’s like: ‘If I do, it’s not a big deal.’ But then they always play really well against me anyways!”
