After years of disappointments, Kim Huybrechts had finally some positive highlights during the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship.

The Belgian came through a tough opening game against Geert Nentjes in the first round, before Huybrechts stunned Rob Cross (3-0) and also defeated Danny Noppert (4-2). He will face Luke Humphries on Saturday for a place in the Quarter-Finals, which would equal his best World Championship result in 2012.

With at least a spot in the last sixteen at the World Championship you would think it is a positive end to the season. Huybrechts sees it differently, he said in an interview with Dartsnews.

''For most of the players, the World Championship is the last tournament of the season. But for me it's 2020. My new season starts in 2020 and this is the 2020 World Championship. So for me it's the start of the new season.''

The Antwerp ace wants to go back to basics as he aims to find his form from his peak between 2012 and 2014. As a result Huybrechts will join a new management in the new year.

''I want to restart, a kind of a reboot. When a computer is not working anymore, you need to reboot it. That's what I'm going to do with myself.''
The Hurricane also wants to change his mindset. ''I need to be more selfish. Maybe I was thinking too much about others in the last few years. Maybe I have supported other players too much. Kim Huybrechts will come first now'', he said.

''I have come through a difficult time, with also suffering depression. I have learned how to deal with that now. Everything is clear now to start a new chapter in my career.''
