Glen Durrant is confounding his critics, and loving every minute of it.

There were those who suggested the three-time BDO world champion wouldn't be able to make the switch to PDC darts. But Durrant has settled in nicely. The Middlesbrough ace has a under his belt, and has left his to focus on the game. Speaking to , Duzza reflected on his big switch. "If someone would've said that on April 1 you would've won a Pro Tour, got to the final of a Pro Tour, you're sat nicely for the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix, and pretty much qualified for Ally Pally - I'd have taken that," he summarised. "But there's also been a couple of defeats in there where I can certainly right those wrongs. "I'm a full time darts professional now, so it's a big transition for me right now. "I'm looking forward to what the future holds, I'm practicing as hard as I can and am determined to be the best I can."

Quieting the critics

Durrant has never been able to shake criticism about his ability to be the best in the world. Time and time again, he dominated on the big stage in the BDO. Now he feels that the same is needed in the PDC to silence the critics, and also any lingering doubts of his own.
"When I won the Lakeside, it was ridiculed.
"It was like 'he'd never play the PDC', because a lot of people on social media only see the PDC guys.
"Winning a BDO final meant nothing to an awful lot of people," Durrant said.
A maiden PDC stage appearance ended at the Last 96 stage of the UK Open, while Jermaine Wattimena dealt a blow to his European Darts Open hopes in the second round. His two stage experiences since making the switch have acted as important lessons.
"I've done nothing yet. I've won on the floor. The next thing I want to do now is start doing a bit better on the stage.
"The European loss was tough. I've still got lots and lots to do," added Duzza.

Loving life

Durrant comes across as a passionate and often self-critical player. His disappointments aren't hidden, but neither is his joy for the game. Durrant was keen to remind his watching fans that he is in the best possible frame of mind. "I'm loving every second, I'm so happy right now. "I can't even describe how excited I am, and I haven't felt like that for a long, long time," enthused the rising PDC star.
