Daryl Gurney provided a small shock in the opening round of the World Matchplay. 'Superchin' defeated former winner Rob Cross 12-10 on Saturday night.
"Rob Cross is one of the greatest and he's still improving," Gurney opened. "He's one of the best players in the world so to beat him shows that I've still got. This is my eighth year at the Matchplay and I can still roll with the best."
Gurney, however, suffered a leg injury during the match. "I pulled the calf somehow in my left leg. It's really sore, I don't know what's happened to that but I've got a couple of days off now so I'll be alright."
The 37-year-old Northern Irishman is already dreaming of final wins. "A third major win (Gurney won the World Grand Prix in 2017 and the Players Championship Finals in 2018) is definitely possible. If I didn't believe in that, I wouldnt even be in this tournament."
