Dimitri Van den Bergh won a PDC major for the second time in his career earlier this month. 'The Dreammaker' was the best in the
UK Open, much to the satisfaction of his manager
Mac Elkin.
Van den Bergh was an 11-10 winner over Luke Humphries in an incredibly dramatic final of the UK Open in Minehead. Thanks to that victory, the Belgian moved up to seventh place in the world rankings.
Someone who enjoyed this success along with him was his manager Mac Elkin, who could be found in the venue cheering on van den Bergh as loudly as anyone. Elkin, with his company "The Sportman Management Company," has been Van den Bergh's manager since 2013.
"We are very close. He's more like a son to me and my actual son gets on with him really well. They talk a lot about things away from darts and that helps Dimi take his mind off darts and onto other things," Elkin told Weekly Dartscast.
Elkin and Van den Bergh recently extended their agreement for another three years. "I'd like to stay with him for the rest of his career," Elkin adds. "When we started negotiations he actually was scared to talk to me because he didn't want to upset me!"
