The 26th Players Championship of the year was a triumph for Ryan Joyce. 'Relentless' defeated Gerwyn Price 8-7 in the final.
In the list of highest averages, however, Joyce does not appear in the top three. The highest average of the day came in the name of Rob Cross. Voltage' posted an average of 111.83 in the last 32, but lost 6-4 to Chris Dobey (who himself averaged 107.03).
The second highest average was for Peter Wright. 'Snakbite' reached 109.79 during his 6-3 win at the last 64 against Jermaine Wattimena.
Completing the top three is Gary Anderson, who won 6-3 over Lee Evans at the last 16, scoring 108.62 average.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
