Jules van Dongen is a Tour Card holder with the PDC. He also picks up the occasional tournament in electronic darts.
For example, Van Dongen was recently active at a Bullshooter tournament in Pennsylvania. "It was a bizarre tournament," he tells Double Top. "I entered it to qualify for the final tournament and reached the finals. My goal was actually already achieved, because the finalists got a ticket to the final tournament."
"The final wasn't played until five in the morning. I thought about skipping that final, mainly also to make some kind of statement that the organization really failed that it went on so long."
In the end, Van Dongen still played the final. "There were still about thirty people in the hall, all of them dead drunk. Fortunately I had earplugs in so it didn't bother me so much. I ended up losing against a local player, who threw great in that final."
"After an hour and a half of sleep, I had to play again in the doubles tournament. If it had been single, I never would have played, but I couldn't abandon my doubles partner. We ended up finishing fourth. This was followed by the finals of the triple tournament, again only at 3am.
"It is ridiculous that such a big organization as Bullshooter is still allowed to organize tournaments. There are more and more players complaining, but in the end there are still many players who continue to come to these tournaments. For me it was the last time," concludes 'The Dutch Dragon'.
