Jerry Hendriks recently hit a
nine-dart finish at an official tournament for the first time in his career.
He produced it in a tournament in Weert and spoke to the Weekly Dartscast this week including about the mental block that can come with missing one previously.
"I've been playing darts for a long time now, it's been 25 years already so I remember 21 years ago I missed my first nine-darter on double 12 and all those years it didn't go in. That's really strange that I throw my first nine-darter at aged 34," said Hendriks to Weekly Dartscast.
"Really happy with the result of course, you could see that in the video. A little bit of a strange reaction but that's just me."
He also went on to be asked about what animal he feels like now after his famous interview where he said he feels like a fish on the stage.
"It feels so fulfilling, I didn't know I'd not hit one in an official game. Of course practice is another thing. Have hit a lot of them in practice sessions, it didn't quite fit well in an official game."
"If you overthink it, that's the problem with darts. All of a sudden I didn't overthink it and I hit the 141 and thought oh I hit a nine-darter at this moment. That's why the outburst came."
"I still feel like a fish on the stage. That comment really came into the news over the years, still at this moment. Although it's six years ago."
