Fallon Sherrock will face Ricky Evans tonight at the PDC World Darts Championship but in weeks prior, she revealed perceived hate from other players that she experienced at the PDC Women's Series.
But ahead of her appearance at the Alexandra Palace, ten-time Women's World Champion Trina Gulliver dispelled that notion saying that players are only enemies on the oche.
“With Fallon, I know she's said she is hated but I think she's taken it out of context as I've not seen it. I’ve been at a few PDC women's events and I've not seen it,” she told AceOdds.
“I don't think that anyone is against her. We're all enemies on the oche, everyone wants to do well. But off the oche, we're all doing the same thing and you have to get on.”
While she also weighed in on Sherrock receiving a late invite and 'The Golden Girl' sees why the PDC have done what they have but like many believes it puts her in a difficult position.
“The situation with that was that the rule wasn't put in place before they played the Matchplay, so the rule was brought in after,” added Gulliver. "Wayne was right in saying the goalposts moved slightly. I can see why they did though, because Fallon has good media attention and puts bums on seats.
“She has got a bit of backlash from it from a few players. Other players are doing the tour and are spending money trying to achieve this and for this rule to come in is a bit moving the goalposts.
“I can see why they have done it but they have put Fallon in a difficult situation.”
