"I want to be a monster" - Michael van Gerwen on the mentality that makes him one of the world's best

Michael van Gerwen has won just about everything there is to win in the world of darts. Still, the 34-year-old Dutchman is far from done in his career.

Van Gerwen recently opened up on his mentality in conversation with PDC chairman Eddie Hearn. "I think I'm maybe not the biggest talent, but the combined path between talent, the mental aspect and my drive, my will to win, I think them combined makes me a really stronger player," 'Mighty Mike' explains.

"The total package has to be right. Of course someone had to be talented, of course. But everything combined can create monsters and I think I can be one of them. I want to be a monster," the three-time world champion concludes. "I want to eat everyone away. I want to beat them. I want to defeat them. I want to smash them off the table, that's the way how I think."
