Madars Razma in his first PDC
World Darts Championship as a seed spoke of his pride of such an achievement as he took down Mike de Decker 3-1 to seal his spot in the third round at the Alexandra Palace.
Razma has worked hard to be only just seeded as he saw off a tough operator in De Decker with a 91 average and 42% on the doubles and next has Michael Smith to contend with, but the pre tournament achievement was fresh on his mind.
"That means a lot. I was working for 24 months to be seeded at Ally Pally. It's an achievement for me. But to win and reach round three means a lot," said Razma post match.
"I don't know about my performance, but I think it's the first step to go top 31, top 30. I think it's a massive step for my career in the PDC.
"In 2017 I played in Q-School, I was waiting for the last four games to win my Tour Card. If one game went wrong I'd miss my Tour Card, this year I felt the same because Martin Lukeman, Luke Woodhouse, Gian van Veen and Ryan Joyce, they all had a chance to be seeded and I was so lucky but at the same time I was proud I was good enough last year to be seeded this year.
He also discussed that Smith clash and said that pressure will be on him so he can now enjoy himself.
"He's my friend, that's what I can say. He's a very good player but more pressure will be on him. Every player can confirm the first game is always so hard, now I won the first game I can enjoy the tournament."
