"I yearn for another title" - Michael van Gerwen determined to take victory at Austrian Darts Open

Michael van Gerwen qualified for the last 16 of the Austrian Darts Open with relative ease on Saturday night. 'Mighty Mike' was far too strong in the second round for his compatriot Jeffrey de Zwaan, winning 6-1.

Van Gerwen posted an average of 102. "I felt good and was particularly comfortable on stage," said the 35-year-old Dutchman. "I started the game right away and that made the difference. After all, Jeffrey is a good player, so I knew I had to put pressure on him right away. He may not be in the best form of his career, but then again, you always have to play well against him."

Van Gerwen has won the Austrian Darts Open twice since it took place at its current venue in Graz and a duel with his old rival, Peter Wright is now what awaits Van Gerwen in the last 16. "The crowd is always great here, I have very good memories of it," he concludes. "I yearn for another title and I am keen to perform well this weekend."
